Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are a fabulous alternative to glasses for those with active / busy lifestyles or just want time out of their glasses. We can offer contact lenses to correct prescriptions for hyperopia, myopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia for any age group.

Most people can wear contact lenses, but there are some health and eye conditions which may limit your wearing times or preclude you from being able to wear them. Our optometrists investigate your eye health, eye shape, tear film quality and your ability to handle lenses all to ensure you the best possible contact lens match.

With soft disposable lenses we can offer a one-day trial where we can assess the fit, comfort and vision clarity during and post-wear. This allows you to become comfortable with your expectations. When you collect your lenses, we take the time to teach our patients how to insert and remove the lenses safely, how to clean and care for them and ensure you understand the importance of safe hygiene practices. We offer daily disposable lenses as well as weekly and monthly use lenses which need to be cleaned regularly. Our optometrists will talk with you to see which of these options is most suitable for you.

Our optometrists have extensive experience in RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable) and (Large) Scleral contact lenses. These rigid ‘hard’ lenses allow for healthier, crisper vision and are used for high prescriptions such as aphakic babies and for corneal irregularities from injuries or conditions such as Keratoconus and corneal grafts which cannot be corrected with glasses. They are also a helpful tool be preventing dry eyes as they can be used to create a humidity shield on the surface of the eye.

Our patients have found the RGP lenses are easier to insert and remove and are a budget friendly option as the lenses last 12-18 months. These are a customise order making the wait for their arrival roughly 3 weeks.

Another contact lens we work with is Orthokeratology (Ortho-K Lenses). These lenses are worn at night while the patient is asleep, reshaping the cornea to prevent the need for glasses during the following day. To learn more on the Ortho-K overnight correction lenses please click HERE .

At this stage we currently have stock of the Alcon Dailies total 1 contact lenses in 90 packs for prescriptions ranging from (-6.00 to +6.00). Please call the practice to see if we have your prescription in stock.

Contact Lens Delays Globally

Due to the ongoing conflict overseas, there has been a global effect on the production and stock of contact lenses, please bear with us through this difficult time. Delays are ranging from 2-8 weeks depending on the brand and prescription required. If you know your order is a custom make, please call and order early, well before you run out. We will update our patients on any delays or developments as they come via SMS and our social media channels.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding,

The Buck and Todd Team.
